Why We Aren't Compatible With QuickBooks Online
Last Updated: 13 March 2024
Unfortunately, we will probably never be able to release versions of our software that are compatible with QuickBooks Online.
We have been waiting since 2008 for Intuit to provide the same features/functionality in QBO that there is in the desktop version and then of course if they do add the same features/functionality - they still need to allow 3rd party developers to access that data.
Back then we were basically told to create a dumbed down version of our software (which we REFUSED to do) and when it didn't work - to have people upgrade to QuickBooks desktop and our more robust programs. And in the meantime, they'd continue to build the necessary functionality into QuickBooks Online.
Well, we're still waiting!
Payroll for QuickBooks Online is very limited and is a separate feature. Payroll information is sent into QBO as a "regular check", not a paycheck like it is in the desktop version - that makes it virtually impossible for us to retrieve reliable payroll data.
The Progress Invoicing feature that the CAPS program relies on so heavily ---- well sometimes it works and other times it fails miserably. I see a lot of QuickBooks professionals complaining about this in many of the groups I belong to on Facebook and LinkedIn.
In our opinion, QuickBooks Online is like stepping into the past and is comparable to the early versions of QuickBooks desktop that were released in the early 1990's. It simply isn't a good solution for construction contractors.
